Hi Pal
don't gie up yet.
I don't know much on the war records, but as we say "Ah know ah man that diz"
Ah wiz in Bath street at a wee meetin yesterday and minded yer post.
Well, Covenantin' an The Calton, coudnie get much nearer ma heart than thaem.
ah mentioned yer Quinn and the 7th Cameronians to a freen, John Morrison
unfortunately the auldfella is not on line.

However he says there was at least two photographs of the division on the wall of his Lodge in Butterbiggins Rd.
One taken at the corner of Butterbiggins and Victoria rd in 1914 with some of the men in civvies, and one in Maryhill barracks, but he does not recall the date but says they were in full dress uniform with rifles and pipers.
His Faither was wey the Cameronians as well and he'll get back once he finds who has the photies and asks aroon, but does not think ther wid be too mony Quinns among that division.

Anyone know anything about Thomas Battalion?

Hi Davie,
Could you do me a favour when you next speak with your pal John Morrison?
And add James Porter to your query to him on James Quinn?
He too was in the 7th Battalion Cameronians.

My neighbour's been trying to find a photo of her grandfather James Porter.
She never knew what he looked like because the only family photo of him was lost.
(explanation of how that happened at the beginning of Cathy's post)

There's a very good chance he was serving with James Quinn N° 266366.
As you can see from the Medal Card below James Porter was N° 266354.

James Porter - Scottish Rifles
Reg. No. 3315 - Sergeant
Reg. No. 266354 - Sergeant
Medal: Victory - Roll D/103 B24. Page 2946
Medal: British - Roll do. Page do.
--
Any help would be much appreciated.
