my word, how convoluted has this gotten? Not sure I understand where we are at with this at the moment. I am going to print off this thread and read it again. This is driving me nuts.

Kind regards

Maple

I'm more than happy that I know where we are!

All that I'm missing at the moment, and it doesn't really impact on what I'm now quite certain is the family tree involved, apart from the name of Wullie's faither, is the information on the paternity of William that will be shown in the RCE entry relating to his birth, following his mother's Sheriff Court action against the father to prove that he was father.

In other words, the family tree is quite clear from all the records quoted and referenced, - just lacking the info on Wullie's faither as proven from the related Sheriff Court action :!:

SarahND wrote:I have seen the site that eilthireach mentioned before, as the author is a frequent contributor to the Reunion family tree software users forum. I see he has integrated many of the cool features of the software into his website-- wow! You can calculate the relationship between any two people, find anyone associated with a given place, etc. Nice work, Roger!
Thanks Sarah and others who commented so kindly on my site in this thread - It keeps me amused :D

Most of the site's features (everybody at a particular place, relationships etc) are actually handled by the TNG software that the site runs, rather than from Reunion.

And the site generates contacts from relatives I never even knew I had - the starter of this thread apparently being one of them - and I only learned of this whole Glass family connection a couple of years ago when another descendant of Agnes Moffat contacted me with a wealth of information about his ancestors linking us together, and we were able to visit him in Dundee when I was in Scotland in August 2005.

Secondly I'm amazed at the helpfulness of the responses here in only a couple of days. I'd not heard of this site until Maple sent me a link to this thread.

I guess I'd better round up one or two of my tricky questions and post them here :D

Cheers

Roger

Makes all the difference seeing it all laid out, doesn't it? You do realise of course that all those answers are only going to raise more questions  That's what keeps us all at it

Up to a certain stage I can visualize the situation, as here, for example, but there quite often comes a point when a sheet of A3 paper is brought out and the pencil sharpened

In addition I find quite often that it's only when you draw a tree or enter the data in a programme, that you look "properly" at every last detail on register entries, e.g. witnesses to a marriage, informants for deaths, that you make connections that you hadn't previously spotted.
