A relative serving with 6 Bn, RSF, was awarded the DCM (I have citation) for an action at Derlyck on 7 Sept 1944.
As the citation refers to "enemy convoys" and "enemy vehicles" and family lore talks of "tanks", I am curious as to the composition of German forces. "Convoys" infers soft skinned vehicles with possibly some form of attached protection (eg. half-tracks) while "tanks" are armour and would probably be protected by infantry.
Is any reader able to advise German OOB or similar for that location and date?
Tall order, I know but if you don't ask, you don't get.
Regards.

Hi Jim
The relief of Derlyck in Belgium was around that date.
The Germans used half track troop carriers, munitions trucks and tanks so all three would have been part of any convoy supplying a forward position or involved in a strategic withdrawal.
there is usually a nugget of truth in family lore especially the more recent stories.

Thanks Russell. I will endeavour to locate the Regt history. Any action which led to a DCM would have to be recorded in Regt history surely.
