Irish gravestones in Sligo

Post by Maggie64 » Wed Nov 21, 2007 11:14 am

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering if does Ireland have " pre-1855 gravestone inscriptions like Scotland that I am looking for my Brennan family in Currea (that town was written on my gggg grandfather Edward Brennan's army papers but the problem is that I canna find that Currea on the map of Ireland but I was told that town could be Curry or Carrera, Sligo co, or other town called Corran) He was Irish soldier with 88th Regiment from 1813 to 1822. Anybody know about this Brennan family in Sligo??? I am really looking forward to break the brickwall on my Irish roots.

Sadly I have no death record on Edward because he died in Montrose Scotland on April 23 1851 that was written on his gravestone at Rosehill cemetery in Montrose that I got information from pre-1855 Gravestone inscriptions book. I wish that Scotlandspeople have all death records before 1855.

Please let me know about Irish gravestone inscriptions.

Thanks from Margaret in Canada

Hi Margaret,

I see a Curry in Co. Sligo.

See http://homepage.eircom.net/~kevm/Co.%20 ... Church.htm for some burial information. There certainly seem to have been Brennans there.

All the best,
