Dear All
My Grandfather William John Blackley (b1862) started his working life as a miner. Somehow he managed an impressive career change and by the time he married in 1891 he was calling himself a 'Professor of Dancing'. He taught and gave dancing lessons over a wide area of Scotland. In his later years he became a 'spirit merchant' and ran at least a couple of pubs, both in Lanark I think. I say at least two as I have photos of him standing outside the Wallace Cave and the Coronation Bar.
Both are very similar in appearance, a basic 2 up 2 down in a terrace. I know the Wallace Cave still exists but wondered if there was anyone out there who knows where the Coronation Bar was situated
Any information would be much appreciated
Thanks
A lost pub in Lanark

Hi Castlehayes
I've not had a look, but this is quite a good site to identify pubs, but Glasgow only - did you mean Lanark the town?:
Old Glasgow Pubs - search by pub name or by publican's name.
Hundreds of historic pubs have been lost following extensive redevelopment programmes from the 1950s, this web site has been brought together to record all those lost and forgotten pubs.

Ah - just looked up "Wallace Cave" pub and I see it is in Lanark, the town, so scrub the above link! At least it might be of use to someone else!
Best wishes

Searching for Pubs
A pub search sounds like a good idea...a drink in each until we find the one we are looking for
Just googled Coronation Bar and found the link below - could this be the one? Have a look right down the bottom of the article for the bit about the bar...

Cheers

Looks like the Coronation Bar you have found mentioned in the Scotsman is in Edinburgh. I expect there are proabably a good few Coronation Bars in UK.Then ... Coronation Bar
Now... Greyfriars Bobby
