McLeods in Aberdeenshire

Post by ColinWH » Fri Nov 23, 2007 8:36 pm

Good evening,
Does anyone have any ideas regarding the origins of the McLeods in Aberdeenshire.
I have quite a number of them on my Mother's side and although there is quite a lot of information, and I always assumed they were a part of the Clan Mcleod. However, as I don't have a direct link, is this assumption erroneous?

Hi Colin,

To my knowledge most of the MacLeods originated from the Isles such as Lewis and Skye. It is possible that the moved from the West coast to find work and ended up settling in Aberdeenshire.

Hopefully someone else can provide more information for you.

:D

Thanks Andy,
I'm assuming that's what happened as well. I was just hoping that someone more knowledgeable than me would have some info on it.
