Neil McIver ( McIvor ) FIFE

Post by Susie Q » Sun Dec 02, 2007 8:40 pm

I'm hoping someone sees this and recognises Neil as " one of their own".
I'm not able to get to Register House, and as you know, because of the Data Protection Act, it's impossible to access information.
He was born between 1912-1915, probably in Bathgate ( I'm guessing )
His parents were Hugh Bain McIver, m Elizabeth Armour Maillie, 18th March, 1912 at 50, Wellington Street, Glasgow.
Hugh was killed on 25th Sept., 1915 at Loos. Elizabeth married John Fleming ( a widower ) on 2nd Dec., 1916 at 34, Chambers Street, Edinburgh. The family moved to Fife to find work in the Pits, and Neil lived there until his death. I'm interested in finding out when he died. I believe his wife was called Nellie ( Helen ? )

Susie aka Cath  Sorry, Neil lived in Cardenden and Bowhill at various times.

Hi Cath (or Susie!)
Are you absolutely sure he IS dead? As we were discussing the other day on another thread, some of our parents are still alive, who were born in the 1912-15 range. And perhaps his wife Nellie is still around... Just worried that we might be overstepping what we're allowed to talk about online. But, if you know that he is dead, then yes, someone would have to check at New Register House in Edinburgh. Perhaps someone is planning a visit and will read this.
Good luck!
Sarah

Yes, I was talking to my Mum about this last week, and he definitely died. The trouble is that we lost touch with the family, and as I live in England, it's difficult for me to " up sticks" to Edinburgh, much as I would like to !

Well, you're still closer than I am! If I were over there, I'd look for you, but maybe someone will come along who's already planning a trip there soon.
All the best,
Sarah

Thank you, :D Muriel. The last I heard, Neil lived in Bowhill. I think they changed the boundaries. What was Auchterderran now comes under Cardenden.

I'd like to acknowledge Muriel's efforts on my behalf. She came up trumps with both birth and death information on Neil.
Heartfelt thanks
