Thomas Reid - Wine Importer or Publican ?

Post by darylrodger » Mon Dec 17, 2007 4:44 pm

Hi,

Can anyone help me find out more about Thomas Reid ? He was listed as a Wine & Spirit Merchant at 70 Elderslie St, Glasgow in 1927. His house was listed as Arenberg, Greenlees Rd, Cambuslang. In 1932, & 1940, he is listed as a wine merchant with an office & stores at 190 North St; 10 Maxwell St; & 80 Dunbarton Rd. His address was 10 University Gdns, Glasgow. I also found a C Thomas Reid listed as a wine merchant at the same address's as above, and also a further one at Arygle St.

I looked at the post office directories, and valuation rolls at the Mitchell but couldn't find anything.

Can anyone help ?

:? Thanks,

Daryl

Hi Daryl
I looked at the post office directories, and valuation rolls at the Mitchell but couldn't find anything.
Not sure what you mean here:
1. you looked and he was not mentioned at all...
2. you looked and although you found info as you've stated above there were no further clues?

Have you checked SP for a death for him? It is possible he died before their cut off date of 1956.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Merlot,

Many thanks for finding that website. I've had a look and it seems to fit the Thomas I'm looking for. I'm now trying to dig into his families history, to try and find out more about them.

Regards,

Daryl :D
