Newspaper Lookup - Ayrshire

I've been looking for info on my great uncle, George McDonald, who was killed in WW1.
On the Ayrshire libraries website they have a reference to him in the "Ayrshire World War One Casualty Database from the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald".
This shows a notification in the 25/06/1915 edition of his being wounded.
As all I knew before was that he died in Oct 1915 this is very interesting.

Would be very grateful if anyone in the area could check to see what other information (if any) is given in the paper.

Hi Bryan,

I found some information on my own family at that website. I wrote to the Library directly and asked them about it, and they were kind enough to send me the whole article. Perhaps an email is the way to go?

As you know the edition date of the A&S Herald, her team will probably look it up, scan and e-mail the scan to you.

Thanks Nina & Jim for that suggestion , Ayr libraries sent me a PDF of the relevant section of the newspaper, which reads:-

Pte. Geo. M'Donald (6529), C Coy, R.S.F., of Barrmill (a half-brother of Scout-Master M'Kenzie of Kilbirnie), has been seriously wounded, and is in hospital at Boulogne.

Odd little insert about his half-brother, as both parents were alive you would expect them mentioned if anyone. That said it confirms not only his identity but that McKenzie was a half-brother which I'd believed but not got documents to prove.

Next stop is to get a death cert for him. According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website entry he died from his wounds (24 Oct 1915).

He is not listed at the Scottish National War Memorial and, according to them, is also missing from the official casualty list (Soldiers Died in the Great War).

I'm trying to gather what info I can to get him listed at SNWM.

He is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site as

McDONALD G, Private, 6529, Date of Death 24 October 1915, Age 24, Royal Scots Fusiliers, Nationality United Kingdom, Grave/Memorial Ref C434, Cemetery/Memorial Name Beith New Burial Ground.
