Registration district for Tollcross

Good evening all

Is anyone able to tell me please in which district of Glasgow would a death in Tollcross be registered in the 1940/50s. The problem is that I have a surname only for searching. Thought it would help to know the reg district.

Hi Yorky
My knowledge of Glasgow is very basic, and with big holes in it... but I'm told by someone who knows a little more about it than I do, that it might come under Calton. But this may be wrong. I'm sure some of our members more familiar with Glasgow will be able to illuminate!

Meant to reply earlier today...
...went & made a cuppa, then completely forgot!
A fair chance Tollcross would come under Shettleston.
It's certainly in that area.

I don't know that area of the city at all but when I asked my other half where Tollcross is he immediately answered - Shettleston - just as you said Jack.

At some point (late 50's) it was under the District of Provan.
