I am searching the Kennedy name, and I have:
Mr. ? Kennedy married Miss Helen ?
they had a daughter, JEMIMA KENNEDY, and I believe they lived in

Hi!
Thank you for the quick reply!
I believe the names are:
Thomas Kennedy married Helen McHarg, 1846 in Donaghadee.
I just received this info to-day, so I may have mixed-up the first posting.
Helen was from Portpatrick.
I do not have any certificates to confirm above dates.
Again, I thank you.
Joan

Hi Joan
This seems to be the marriage as found on IGI (an extract):
THOMAS KENNEDY
Marriages:
Spouse: HELEN MCHORG
Marriage: 04 JUN 1846 0113, Donaghadee, Down, Ireland
Do you know if they were in Scotland by 1851? Have you tried a search for any census in Scotland e.g. 1851, 61 etc.
Do you think Jemima was born in Scotland? Did she have any siblings? Do you know if Thomas or Helen died in Scotland?
Sorry, lots of questions, but just trying to get a clearer picture.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley,
I believe Helen married Thomas Kennedy in 1846 in Donaghadee, (but this info is not confirmed)
No, I have not tried 1851 census.
I think Jemima was born in Ballymena.
I just came upon this information two days ago, I have not dealt with anything in Scotland before, would you kindly give me the census site.
Name is McHorg, and not McHarg?, thanks for the correction.
I greatly appreciate your help!

Hi Joan
The above marriage on IGI was an extract, so it has come direct from an original record, held in Ireland - probably from a Parish Register. I've not been involved in much Irish research but I think the 0113 is a number reference within the register.
Best wishes
Lesley
All BMD & census information for Scotland can be found at Scotlands People, link at top of this page. It is a pay per view site. However, for census stuff it is always worth checking www.freecen.org.uk first, and for pre 1875 births, marriages etc, the IGI is also free. www.familysearch.orgI have not dealt with anything in Scotland before, would you kindly give me the census site.
That is either what is has been written down as at the time, or what it has been transcribed as... spelling was a lot more "elastic" then then it is now.Name is McHorg, and not McHarg?, thanks for the correction.
