Commemorative plaques--Aberdeen

Post by speleobat2 » Wed May 21, 2008 1:20 am

I was googling street names this evening and noticed a listing for 98 Leslie Terrace which would be near to 90 Leslie Terrace--my relative's former residence. Turns out the listing was for this website:

I didn't find a relative on this list of plaques, but you might!

Hi Carol,
There is one for my gg grandmother's half-brother, James Giles R.S.A., complete with a gratuitous middle name that he never used in life   I think by now the biographers have come to the conclusion that he never did have a middle name, but it still surfaces now and then!
Hope others will find rellies as well!
Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Funny, but several of my relatives spent time around Bon Accord St. They might even have known who James Giles was!

I think they also may have know Mary Slessor, the missonary in the last list. Mary C. Munro kept a "birthday book" which was given to her by church members before she sailed for the US. One of the enteries is for Miss Mary Slessor. Then again, there could have been dozens of Mary Slessors...
