I am trying to unravel some conflicting information about Esther Gunn, daughter of Cheiftan of Gunns, Donald Gunn and Jean Sutherland. Esther was born around 1692 in Scotland.
The conflicting info comes in who she married. One source says she married Donald MacKay of Skinit, the Scoury line of MacKays, and they had children Agnes & William. The second source says she married Donald MacKay of Skerray, the Strathy line, and had son Hector. I believe her marriage was around 1710.
Does anyone know which one she actually married? Does anyone have any documentation to prove it?

Hi Kygans,
I see your problem.
On checking the IGI there are 4 submitted entries of a marriage between Esther Gunn and Donald MaKay.In 1674, 1710,1712 and 1736.
Then there is one submitted entry of a marriage to Donald or MacEachan Mackey in 1700.
As these are all submitted entries there will be no copy of a Parish Register entry on SP.
Sorry I can't offer any further help.

Hi Kerry
Although, as mentioned by Lizanne, the IGI entries may be submissions, it would be worth checking on Scotlands People to see what turns up. Some submissions are spot-on, others are fanciful nonsense, and it can be very difficult to tell the wheat from the chaff! Have you tried a search on Scotlands People?
Best wishes
