Slatehall - St Quivox, Ayrshire

Post by StuartC » Wed Jul 02, 2008 8:49 am

I can find quite a few rellies in the 1851 to 1901 censuses residing at a place called Slatehall (also seen as Slatchall) in St Quivox, Ayrshire.

I have been unable to find any info on this place and would be interested if anyone has a history and what happened to it.

Regards

Hallo Stuart. Go to www.old-maps.co.uk and under the heading 'Buy a Map Now' click 'Start your Search'. Enter St Quivox in the search box and click GO. Choose St Quivox, Ayrshire in the address matches panel. When the map appears (Map 1 of 7) pan 3 clicks to the South and 1 click to the East and enlarge to Zoom Level 3.
Slatehall looks as though it might be a farm.

Hi Bervonian,

Thanks for the info. I think it was part of an estate, as the Head of the family was noted as Estate Joiner. They were also Wrights later on so presumably fixed wheels and things (carts and a carriages?)

Regards
Stuart

Bervonian,

How pleasant to find someone so helpful with such detail.
