Has anyone any research that connects these 3 surnames please. I'm looking for a CRERAR-STEWART marriage initially.
Thanks,
James.

Hello James,
Did you have any particular region or time period in mind? A search at the WorldConnect site brings up some marriages with those names.
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin ... n&id=I4101
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin ... 6&id=I0564
A search there for Crerar as surname and with stewart as spouse will bring up some more.
A Google for crerar stewart will bring up enquiries from possibly others that may have potential.
On SP there appears to be only 10 Scottish Stewart/Crerar combinations in the whole 1855/1932 period.
Depending on what you have in mind this site can be useful for gathering information about possible Stewart/Crerar and Crerar/Stewart combinations but you need to know the County. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... #PageTitle
Hope there’s something useful there,
Alan

Alan, many thanks.
OK, this is (part of) the scenario. I need to find a John Stewart and Elizabeth Crerar in Caithness, not Perthshire where I know of a John Stewart and Catherine Crerar.
John and Elizabeth emigrated to Canada (Ontario) in 1821 with son James (who later had 6 sons).
Crerars and Stewarts are certainly not hard to find in Perthshire, but Wick, Caithness is a different story. Dunnet at the moment is less significant.
This incidentally is for someone in Canada (Grandaughter of John) who does not 'do computers'.
Help and advice much appreciated.
James.

Back again James,
You can search the individual IGI Caithness batches for a surname at this other Hugh Wallis page but possibly that wont help. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... #PageTitle
The name Crerar possibly isn’t helping, being the sort of name it would be easy to make a mess of. You can look at every name in those batches by going to the IGI site and just putting in the batch number and Scotland and leave everything else blank or just put in Elizabeth or whatever. The marriage might show up if it is there but has been badly misspelt.
This GROS page will give an idea of the coverage of the Caithness OPRs
http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/h ... r-cov.html
There seems to be no shortage of Wick marriages but this 1840s report of the state of the Registers, in particular Wick, within those years doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Best of luck,
Alan
