Does anyon know this family? Barr

Post by Maud Jarvis » Fri Jul 18, 2008 3:57 pm

I am seeking more information about my paternal grandfather JAMES BAR
born 1869 Greenock, his parents were Neil Barr and Janet Cameron
they lived at St Lawrence St Greenock

James married Sarah Boyd in 1894 they had several children and I would love to know if there are any descendants
James died in 1913 (Sarah remarried some years later)

I have recently been contacted by Cameron Barr (the 4th) in USA he is the gt grandson of brother to James, Cameron Barr, who had emigrated to USA
We would both like to know more about James.
Seeking any descendents from Ezekiel McCulloch, Port Glasgow, also Neil Barr (Greenock)

Hello Maud,

I’ve no idea if this fellow has any connection to your family but there’s a WW1 file and other material for a Thomas Adair Cameron Barr from Glasgow at the National Archives of Australia http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch.aspx It includes a letter from Glasgow.

There’s a summary of the WW1 file here http://www.aif.adfa.edu.au:8080/showPerson?pid=14446

A summary of his WW2 record here
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/vetera ... nID=309018

Marriage and death records here
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm
Marriage 1926
1890/1926 BARR THOMAS A C, MOLLOY MINA M, GLEBE
Death 1951
3087/1951 BARR THOMAS ADAIR CAMERON, JOHN, MARY, CHATSWOOD

Hope that’s useful,
Alan
