Hi Judy
I wonder if this is David senior and Ann in 1851:
10 Mill Street, Montrose:
David Watson Head 56 Labourer in Gardens born Marykirk, Kincardineshire
Ann Watson Daughter 26 Flax Preparer for Spinning born Logie Pert
This would suggest that Susan(na) is dead by this stage and certainly I have not been able to find a dc for her.
I can't find a marriage for your David with Marion Rutherford and wonder if maybe they married in Canada.
Do you know when they went over there?
Anne
That David dies in Montrose in 1859 and is a widower. The difficulty is that you cannot be sure that it is your David because it does not give his spouse's name. The informant is however his son James who is residing in Dundee at the time.
That David was born in 1794 in Marykirk the son of Robert Watson and Helen Wisheart or Wishart.
One good thing is that there is a place of burial on the DC so you might be able to see if David senior had a headstone.
