Good afternoon all
In helping a friend with some research I have come accross one of these puzzles that Talking Scot members enjoy.
I have a David Dunn the illigitamate son of David Dunn and Mary Falconer born 15th Nov 1846 at Mill of Woodstone St Cyrus, and baptised 22 May 1847. His father if information is correct went on to marry a Mary Henderson 22 May 1850. My question is are both females one and the same if not what happened to Mary Falconer as we can't seem to find her anywhere.
Your Aye

David Dunn
Bruce,
Who did he marry, when & where?
Where and when did he die?
Do you have him in the various census? did you find him in 1851/61 census, who was he with?

more questions I'm afraid
You said on his death cert - mother's name Mary Falconer notified by son
Then you say don't know when he died
If he was married twice do you have his marriage certificates?
They should have his parent's names and, if known, his mothers current married name as well as her maiden name, also should tell if she was still alive(if known).
It would be worth getting them to see if there is anything helpful.

Hi
Sorry if I mislead you, thats the trouble when trying to post reply's whilst at work and the phones never stop ringing.
I have David's fathers marriage when He married Mary Henderson,
on the David I am looking for married Ann Duncan and then Harriet Scott or Tavendale I have both of these, his mother is listed as Marry Falconer.
I do not know when he died?
the question is are both Mary Falconer and Mary Henderson one and the same person?

I do no think they are the same person,
the best way to establish this is to look for the death of Mary Dunn ms or previously Henderson hopefully after 1855 and you will be able to confirm that for sure.
Mary Falconer will be harder but again not impossible if she lived after 1855, which I think is the case if you have her named in the marriage certificates. Although David may only have known his mother's maiden name and not her current married name or wither she was alive or dead.

More questions.
What was David's address when he married Ann Duncan in 1870 and was his mother deceased? Who were the witnesses?
