I wonder if anyone would know what school (primary/secondary) a catholic boy would have gone to in the 1920s. The area the child was living in was Corstorphine, now part of Edinburgh but then a village in it's own right.
I also wonder what church the family were likely to have worshipped in.
Thanks
Frances

Hello Frances,
In the House of Commons Parliamentary Papers there’s a 1908 return of expenditure on State aided schools in Scotland for the year 1899. The list of schools includes denomination, number and age groups of pupils, number and type of teachers etc.
Edinburgh has what seems to be nearly 200 schools spread over about six pages and there are about 20 RC schools included. There’s only the Public School in Corstorphine. I don’t know which of the RC schools would be nearest.
Please let me know if you want the Edinburgh part of the report and I’ll email it. (PDF file less than 1MB)
