Hunting the Hunts

Hi, I'm looking for descendants of JohnHunt 1857-1908 who married Mary Middleton 1859-???. They had 9 children, John 1878 Elizabeth 1883,Mary 1885, Robert 1887, David 1889, James 1891, Lewis1885, Sahah 1896, Isabella 1899. John married Margaret Docherty 1908. Robert m Marion Maxwell Thomson 1913. Sarah m Charles Donachie 1920.
Anyone out there with any info please let me know. I thank you.

Have you looked for Mary's death on Scotland's People? (Link at top of page). Just fiddling around with the search function, I see that there is a Mary Hunt, other surname Middleton, born 1857, who died in 1942 in Glasgow City. You should be able to download the image (for a small fee) and maybe there will be more clues to fill out the story.

Well, it's a quiet day on Talking Scot and I needed something to do while drinking my morning coffee

So, I was wondering about that gap between son John and daughter Elizabeth and went back to the previous census. It looks as though they had at least one child who died

In the 1881 census there is a David D Hunt who doesn't show up later.

The sister-in-law with the surname Taylor, rather than Middleton, is a puzzle. And I don't see a Mary Middleton with the right age and birthplace in 1871. Do you know who her parents were? I assume you have her marriage certificate, which should give their names.

Sorry, I know you want to go forward and here I am going backward

But the more about this family we can post, the more likely someone is to recognize something and help you put together the more recent history.

It has not gone without notice that John is missing from the 1901 census
however his appearance elsewhere seems to indicate a "domestic" tho' I've never heard a whisper. He is in his son John's wedding in 1908 and died in Sept, 1908. His wife Mary lived to 1942. Her father was Angus Middleton and her mother's MS was Drummond subsequently Dawson.Does this mean she married again? The name Drummond has beeb passed down in the family.
David Drummond Hont born1880 is not on the 1901 cecsus. Icannot find a death cert, for him. Mary Middleton birth is hard to find I,ve had about 7 hits not one born in Glasgow.

Yes Jack, the 3 surnames would indicate a remarriage.

It would be interesting to find her 2nd marriage or death as I found a few interesting snippets on a 2nd marriage cert in my family.

Looks like he died as a small child

On Scotland's People there is a David Drummond Hunt, born 1881 who died in Glasgow City, Govan in 1885.

What was Mary's mother's first name?

I can't find David D Hunt's death even with the info you supplied,must be me I can't seem to find anything.
Angus Middleton was a Housepainter on his daughter's wedding Cert. in 1878. Mary Hunt who died in 1942 is my G grandmother.
