Hayes & Waters from Limerick

Post by prufrockster » Sat Oct 04, 2008 5:36 am

Hi, I am trying to trace details of my family in Limerick and beyond.

This is what I know:

G-G-Grandparents: Jeremiah Hayes and Esther Hayes nee Darling.
Richard Fredrick Waters and Lucinda Waters nee Walshe.

G-Grandparents: Francis Thomas Hayes (c1842-1918) - born in Co. Cavan ? and Frances Ellen Hayes nee Waters (c1851-1926) - born in Dublin.

Francis Thomas had a sister, Susannah Edith Hayes (c1840-1915) - unmarried, and I believe Frances Ellen has a sister, Lucinda Brunker nee Waters (c1855-?) who married Thomas Brunker (c1855-c1901) in Dublin.

I don't know where Francis and Frances Hayes were married, but they had 6 children in Limerick - Lucinda Esther (1872-1947), Harriet S (1874-c1895), Francis Richard - my Grandfather (1875-1945), Alice Maud Wyndham (1876-c1957), Thomas (1879-c1880), and John Brunker (c1880-c1957).

According to the 1881 England Census, Frances Ellen and all of the children except Thomas (who must have died) are in St Pancras, Greater London, Francis Thomas Hayes seems to be away on business. In the mid 1880's, all are in Sydney, Australia where they meet up with Susannah, Francis Thomas' sister, who had emigrated earlier.

So I don't know much about the family in Ireland, or exactly when they emigrated (possibly between 1881 and 1885).

If anyone can give me some clues about my family in Ireland, I would be very greatful. Thanks, Drew in Oz.

Hi prufrockster,

Did you have any luck with your query? If not, maybe by moving it up to the top of the board again might help. Good luck! :)

Regards,
