McDonald Clan - Which Branch Does My Family Belong To ?

Post by darylrodger » Thu Nov 13, 2008 8:53 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know how I find out which branch of the McDonald clan my family belongs to ? The earliest ancestor comes from Inverary Kilmonivaig, circa 1792, but since there are a handful of different clan badges to pick from I don't know which one is the right one!

Any ideas ?

Regards,

Daryl

You are probably from the Macdonalds of Keppoch sept, who lived in the area bounded by Loch Leven to the south and Loch Lochy to the west.

Myself , im of Macdonald od Dunyveg and the Glens or Clan Donald South.
who inhabited Kintyre, Islay and the North Antrim coast.
