There is a Janet with those parents on the IGI at family search:

JANET CAMPBELL Female

Birth: 31 OCT 1856 Tyree, Argyll, Scotland

Father: DUNCAN CAMPBELL
Mother: ANN MACPHERSON

Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record

an similar submitted entry gives Coll at the place of birth. but submitted ones need verification.

Siblings could be: Anne b. 1859 Donald b. 1862 both Tyree.

Have you found the family on any census returns? to see what birthplace they give then, and the siblings names for confirmation.

Hi Jan,
You don't say which documents you have already seen. Are those the parents she gives on her 1884 marriage certificate? If so, then it looks like Wilma and Mary have found her. If you haven't downloaded the marriage, it would be a good idea to do so to be sure you have the right person.

All the best,
Sarah

Hi Jan,

You should really try Scotlands People for Scottish ancestors. You'll find the link near the top of the forum page (Blue lettering in button).

I am researching Scottish, Irish and English family and would happily say that Scotlands People are the absolute tops for getting lots of information for my Scottish bunch.

Once you start finding your folk you'll be hooked! Believe me, it won't be long before you will be helping new researchers on here as well.

Can you give us the details of the census and someone will help solve the problem.

It isn't uncommon however for children in 1 family to all have the same name! all known as a different name but officially 'whatever', confusing for the rest of us though :!:

Hi Jan,

We need a wee bit more information.

Are both boys part of the same family and/or living at the same address? If so, are they both shown as son of the Head of the household?

To explain: I do know of instances where two sons or daughters were named the same, but with different middle names, usually because both grandfathers/mothers had the same first name and no-one wanted to cause offence to these important members of the family by "ignoring" them when naming children. Family fueds have been known to be caused when the traditional naming pattern is not "properly followed". The children are usually actually called by their middle name on a day-to-day basis, though (Although I have heard "Wee James" and "Big James" being used as an example to differentiate the poor confused weans).

To be truthful, unless you can view either the transcript or an image of the original census page, it might be difficult to identify these things.
