Re David McDonald - Wrong Name!

Post by darylrodger » Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:28 am

Hi,

Regarding my previous query about David McDonald.

After contacting SP about the quality of his son John's death certificate image, they sent a re-scaned one which made deciphering his name much clearer. I was looking for the wrong person! :? It turned out his name was really Donald. Since then, I've been trying to find out any details on Donald & his wife Mary Kennedy with no luck.

I've looked on family search, & SP without success.

Any ideas ?

Regards,

Daryl

And the same family in 1851?

Later - I've just noticed your Donald was a joiner so maybe this isn't them.

Hi Annette,
The names are certainly just right in terms of the children shown on the IGI, down to the Coll born 1836, who shows up in 1841, and the second Coll born 1840, who shows up in 1851. But that Coll was supposedly born in Kilmallie, Argyll according to the census. What is odd is that the IGI extract for Coll #2 shows definitely Donald and Mary as parents, yet in the 1851 census he is "grandson". :-k

Another odd thing is that Coll #2, if born in 1840 as indicated in the IGI, should be somewhere in 1841. He is not with the immediate family, but is with what look like his great grandparents Kennedy:

1841
Murshirlich, Kilmallie, Argyll
Alexr Kennedy, 80, born Scotland, Ag Lab
Janet Kennedy, 70, born Scotland
Cath Kennedy, 25, born Scotland
Coll McDonald, 9Mo, born Argyll

Whose child is he?

Regards,
Sarah
