Hi:)

I'm looking for a photo of an officer who served in the RN from 1906 to 1946 and retired with the rank of Captain. His name was John Sanford Maclean Mackenzie-Grieve. b 02 November 1892

Did that before I posted, no sign of him. He was the groom at the 1936 wedding in Edinburgh that my cousin 3x removed presided over.

Hello Dennis,

I couldn’t find a photo of him but as a consolation prize here's the Sloop HMS Bridgewater which he commanded on the China Station 1933-34. http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/i ... ewater.jpg

This fellow gets mentioned quite a few times in the London Times. Just search for Mackenzie Grieve if you’re interested. See if this still works. viewtopic.php?t=11928&highlight=tryinfomarks

Nov 22, 1930 - Short biography including WW1
Mar 08, 1933 - Commander of Sloop Bridgewater to China
May 11, 1936 - Engagement
Jul 28, 1936 - Marriage
Also death after 48 years of marriage followed twelve months later by his wife.

We deliver,
Alan

Hi:) That obit on J.S.M. Mackenzie-Grieve notes he was a Member of the Royal Company of Archers ( the Queen's bodyguard in Scotland). I've tried to find an email address for them to see if they have any photos of him; I'd tried qbg@hotmail.co.uk but was replied with "
Thank you for visiting the Queen's Body Guard website. I'm sure the Royal Company of Archers (RCA) will have more information on this officer. Their contact details may be found on Google."

Google is not returning any page that has an email site for them.

Hello Dennis,

No luck at all with an email address, just a few scraps picked up along the way. See the Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Company_of_Archers

“The structure of the organisation is divided between officers (including a Secretary, currently David Younger)”

“The Royal Company of Archers has its base in Edinburgh at Archers Hall (built 1776 and recently refurbished). The Hall serves as a venue for various dinners and meetings of the company.”

Address is
Archers` Hall, Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh EH8 9LR

This is David Younger

Some photos of the RCA (Maybe he’s in there somewhere)

Hope that’s useful,
Alan
