Summertime - but where is this beach?.....

Post by LesleyB » Mon Jul 18, 2005 10:23 am

This photo was found in a pile of family picures which recently came to light- it was like Christmas ....but much better!!

However, I'm not sure who this family are. None of them are jumping out at me. I'm just guessing, but it looks as if it was taken around 1900. Any suggestions welcome. But then I wondered if maybe I could find out where it was taken, it might give me some clues. Does anyone recognise the location?

(Its not on the beach at Limekilns near Rosyth Old Church in Fife which is where I thought it looked like - been to check!)

Best wishes
Lesley

Maybe another look at the picture will encourage folks to keep an eye open for the beach during this summer's holiday

Looks very much like the beach at Ravenscraig Park in Kirkcaldy, with the wall and the background of trees, but given that so many years have passed you'll need to assess the tree growth.
The beach from West to East Wemyss also had a wall very similar to this, especailly at East Wemyss at the foot of the Gasworks Brae, but it's long gone now.
The gentleman's face is familiar, and I suggest that you post the photo in the General section in the Forum at www.friendsfromthewemyss.co.uk asking for any suggestions.
Any other shots with locations?
Good hunting!
Jake

Yes, the link has a problem which I've informed their admin of, but so far nothing has been done.
Try this link instead, and complain that I've had to re-direct you via my Favourites link, that way they might take some notice!
