Mary Ann Taylor

Post by bleckie » Mon Jan 12, 2009 2:29 pm

Hi Everyone

Once again I have to beg for everyone's help.
I am looking for the birth details of Mary Ann Taylor born in Crieff sometime around 1854-1856. details from her death cert. are parents Peter Taylor and Catherine Wilson she died on the 21st may 1910 at Alloa Junction Cottages aged 55years. The informant was her cousin, her husband is listed as an railway labourer why wouldn't he have signed the register.

Yours aye

Hi Bruce,

Firstly, her husband may not have been in a fit state to register Mary Ann's death. Not unusual in my experience.

Did you get Mary Ann's marriage certificate to confirm her parents names and age?

I only ask as I have a DC where the informant was a cousin as well, but he got the mother's maiden name and the age wrong.

In my case, this was sorted out by a Register of Corrected Entries done a few days later.

Hi Bruce,

Have you got her on the censuses, 1861 in particular. In general, the younger the age, the more accurate it is. Does the age in 1861 agree with the age given at death?

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi All
Mary Ann Taylor was married on the 6th June 1884 and she gives her age as 30 years her husband gives his age as 38 years (he is an ex soldier so that could be reason for late marriage.) I have what I think is all her brothers and sisters dates of birth but not her's, her parents married on the 12th Oct 1851 in Crieff.

Hi Annette

I think back to searching old tomes I thought I had everyone but Mary Ann looks like I do not will get back into library and search OPRs but everything points to her being born 1855 or 56 if my maths are correct
( but getting older not enough fingers and toes for counting)

many thanks
