Help with Bliss problem.....

Hi,

I wondered if anyone is researching the name BLISS in Scotland - particularly in the Dundee area?

My problem is -

My greatx4 grandmother was ANNE BLISS ( sometimes called Agnes ). She married William Pirie in Dundee in 1778. I lookd for her baptism for ages without any luck and then found her on the 1841 census, aged 85, a widow and still living in Dundee. The most interesting thing was it indicated she was born in England - but, I'm thinking she and her family probably moved to Scotland so there may be some more Bliss family out there! I'm hoping she may have had a brother or two who also settles in Scotland and had a few litle Blisses!

I can't find her birth/baptism in England - neither can the Bliss one name chap, and I don't think he's ventured into Scotland.

She would have been born about 1755.

Does anyone know of any Scottish Bliss families?

Thanks for going to all that trouble, Andrew.

There do seem to be quite a few Bliss families in Elgin in 1881 - I'll see if I can retrace any of them back 100 years thru IGI and Scotlands People.

The one from Northampton is interesting as I'm sure I came across some Blisses from there when I was looking for Anne.

I'll have another look!!
