The regiment is shown as 'High L I' = Highland Light Infantry.
His date of arrival in France (theatre of war = '1') means that he was either a regular, 1st or 2nd Battalion HLI; in the Reserve, 3rd or 4th Bns HLI; or just possibly in a territorial regiment, 1/5th, 1/6th, 1/7th, 8th, or 1/8th Bns HLI, but I'd be doubtful if any of the territorial Bns were in France that early.
You'll find someone on the Great War Forum at http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/ who will know !

The 1st Bn HLI arrived in France & Flanders on 12/01/14, so that his arrival date of 24/11 could mean that he was a member of an advance party.
In other words, chances are that he was a regular sojer in 1st Bn HLI.
The Bn's war diaries are available for a small cost via http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/docu ... iaries.asp .
