It's a good site Anne,
Particularly the colliery accident section, it even gives the names of many who were killed at the various times.

For instance: the Victoria Coal Pit in Nitshill accident happened in March 1851- just before the census was recorded.

Hi Wilma,

Yes, I found my great grandmother’s first husband in the accident section…now I know what pit he was in when he was killed.
For instance: the Victoria Coal Pit in Nitshill accident happened in March 1851- just before the census was recorded.
Ahh! Another resource for anyone unable to find mining ancestors on the 1851 census…I didn’t think of that.

Regards,
AnneH

What a fantastic site…loaded with a wealth of information over the centuries. Many thanks!

By the way, are you connected to Andrew McAnulty Paterson, the author of the book and website www.blantyrepast.com/mining.html?

Hi Anne,

You're not the first person to ask that question, but the answer is "no", or not so far as I know anyway.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson
