it gets worse

Post by Justjan » Mon Apr 06, 2009 11:42 am

when i have been searching for Charles Stewarts parents , given as Charles and Elizabeth m/s Renfrew ,
i cant get a Birth for Charles , nor a marriage for the parents ,
in both SP and LDS , i am getting a Charles born at Paisley in 1832 , which sounds about right age i am looking for , but the Mother is a Ellen Dorn ,
not sure if its the right one or not , and how do you work out if it is ?
all i have is he was born in Paisley Causewayside ,
not sure if maybe this Ellen has died when Charles has been young ,and an Elizabeth brought him up , reminds me of something lol ,
either way Charles Sen , didnt marry either , or i cant find a marriage ,
and nothing comming for the 1841 census for Paisley , any ideas where to try next ?
maybe a death for this Ellen , least she has an name that should be easier to find ,
this is hard work

There is a Charles and Elizabeth Stewart in 1841 in Paisley with a 8 year-old son, Charles and loads of Siblings.

Almost certainly Elizabeth Patrick.

Extant records of births or baptisms for all other children but not for Charles, there is, however, one for a John in the correct year and another John in 1839. Not the first time I've seen children renamed.

Charles, the father's, parents may have been William and Helen McLearnon
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

mmmm
didnt expect siblings Andy , all i could get was this Ellen Dorn /Dorran as a Mother for a Charles born at Paisley high church ,
it was Elizabeth Renfrew he has as his Mothers name , well on death cert and i expect that could be wrong ,
as i said all i have is Causewayside Paisley nothing else to go by , maybe the Johns the first one died ,
i have that on my Grandfathers children 2 Janets , guess this is about as good as it gets eh , does it give an add in Paisley ,
thanks loads for this

Hi Jan
To save money it is always worth checking freecen first! I can see them there...

Elizabeth Patrick seems to be the wife of this Charles going by christening of son Robert on 16 May 1841 at High Church, Paisley, Renfrew on IGI with couple's marriage in 1825 also on IGI.

You do wonder if someone got their Patrick/Partick and Renfrews muddled...

Best wishes
Lesley

well Lesley
going by what we have found so far and Agnes Mcpherson being around , i expect anything would have went lol
if shes not going to own up to not being the Mother of 2 children , i expect she could mess up a Renfrew and Patrick , just wish this woman with the information on the Poor Relief would get back , it might help ,
even ever so slightly , shes not signed the death cert , so maybe guess work ,
and then neighbour who said they had lived there 10 years lol , think they must all have been up to something eh ,
