I am searching for any information on Janet Fleming McGowan born 10/8/1882 in Boghead Lesmahagow parents Hugh McGowan and Mary Anderson, she married John McGregor born circa 1866 They married on 4/1/1908 in Glasgow. Janet died whilst living at 162 Carmyle Avenue, Old Frankland on 19.11.1954. John was still alive at that time as he notified the death. Janet was the sister of my granfather Andrew McGowan. Did they have any family. Does anyone know anything of this couple.
I am planning a visit to Scotland in September can anyone tell me where Old Frankland is and how many cemeteries there are in the area? Does Carmyle Avenue still exist?

Carmyle Avenue is shown on the current map. Go to www.streetmap.co.uk and enter the postcode G32 8DP, then search. I think the "Old Frankland" should be "Old Monkland". As far as I can tell, this area has been within Glasgow for some time, but was originally in the Western District of Old Monkland.
