My second cousin ELI LOCKWOOD ELKINS was born at Selkirk on 23 December 1909 and the only reference I have is his birth certificate.
His parents were Jeremiah Elkins 1884 from Farnham Surrey and Mary Maxwell Keith Roger 1879. Jeremiah was killed in 1917 serving with the KOSB.
2011 seems along way off to wait for another possible reference. it would be appreciated if anyone has an idea to find Eli.
Regards

Hello NormanE
Welcome to
Are you a member of genesreunited ? There is someone on there who seems to have your Jeramiah (or one very similar) born 1860 Farnham Surrey. May be worth contacting her if you havnt already.

I am familiar with Jeremiah 1860 and believe I am the only person looking for Eli Lockwood Elkins 1909.The Jeremiah 1860(my great Uncle) you mention is the father of Jeremiah killed in 1917.
Thanks for the idea
Norman

I am stumped as to how you could proceed without paying a visit to NRH for a search through the records.
Do you know if he married /died in Scotland-marriages are only online up to 1933 at the moment. He didn't marry in Scotland during that time.
I haven't found a death but he may have moved to England, taken a step-father's name.Cannot find his Mother death or a remarriage for her either in Scotland.

Sorry but I don't recognise NRH. I really only have the birth document and nothing else. I have tried many angles including the thought that his uncle Eli Lockwood 1864 from Yorkshire who went to Philadelphia in 1911 might have been the father he was in Selkirk at this time. Still nothing. Patience till 2011 maybe.joette wrote:I am stumped as to how you could proceed without paying a visit to NRH for a search through the records.

Re: ELI LOCKWOOD ELKINS
Hi
On the 1920 Valuation Roles for Selkirk a Mrs Mary Elkins, millworker is renting a house at 16 Ettrick Road, Selkirk. Looking at 1925 Valuation Rolls she is not renting a house in Selkirk or anywhere in Scotland.
Looking back in the rolls the same house was rented by Mr Jeremiah Elkins, millworker in 1915. The Southern Reporter, the local paper, carried news of his death and had his home address as Ettrick Road, Selkirk.
