Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there is a Burial Index for Perthshire?
I am, hopefully, coming to the end of a rather complicated jigsaw which I'm putting together to find the parents of my greatx5 grandfather Alexander Ferrier.
It now involves finding the death/burial of JOHN FERRIER in Perthshire - possibly in Rhynd, but could be anywhere in the county - between 1727 and 1749. More likely to be earlier than later. His widow would be Euphan Scott.
Can anyone please help or , at least, point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Jill.

Burial Index?
Hi Jill
There is a Burial Register for Perth cemeteries held in the Local Archives at the A K Bell Library in Perth, but it only starts in 1790s. However, the local archivists are very helpful and it would certainly be worth giving them a call to find out what else might be available (Perth & Kinross Council Archive, AK Bell Library, York Place, PERTH PH2 8EP Tel 01738 477012 Email archives@pkc.gov.uk).
Also, this is what it says on the Perth & Kinross Council website:
"Bereavement Services
The Crematorium,
Crieff Road, PERTH PH1 2PE
Tel 01738 446865
There are 143 burial grounds and a crematorium administered by the Council. It is advisable to telephone ahead of any visit. Surviving registers are:

Hope this helps.
