Hello All
A good bit for me about the enforced evacuation to Rootschat was the discovery of this site
www.eckford.org.uk/
It is apparently in process of being revamped from an SWRI millenium project. I thought it was well worth a word of congratulation from a Tait whose ancestors lived almost 200 years in Eckford.
I live in hope of finding Glasgow Taits, having lived there for 40 years for goodness sake while cousins abounded that we knew/know nothing of. Maddening.
Our Eckford Taits moved with the times - from weavers, to tailors, to fishing tackle maker, gamekeepers, joiners then two via the railway to Glasgow.
Considering Eckford WI had only 9 members at the time they built the site, I reckon they did a sterling job for the community. Thanks, girls.

That’s an excellent site Lorna. It’s easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. It reminded me a bit of another excellent site, for Uphall, I think. Unfortunately none of the villages on my tree have anything like this. There should be more of them.
I must have been asleep when you posted it.
All the best,
Alan
