The Wright Family

Post by pjpurple » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:02 pm

Hi, I'm looking for any information about the family of George Wright, born in Glasgow in ??1892 and married to Janet Crawford in 1915. We think he may have been in the armed forces, abut have not been able to find anyting. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi pjpurple,

Welcome to TalkingScot! :D

If you give us some idea of where you've already looked it would help others to help you.

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk would be your first stop where you might be able to find George and Janet's marriage...that will give you their parents names. Also on SP you might be able to find George as a child with his family on the 1901 census and that will give you any siblings to track down.

Let us know how you get on after you've visited Scotland's People. :)

Regards,
Anne H

Wright Family

Hi Anne,
Thanks for the advice - already have their marriage certificate and Georges parents were James Wright, 44 in 1901, and Annie Harrison.43 in 1901. Checked the 1901 census and they were living in Carfin Street in the parish of Govan, Glasgow. George has three siblings when the census was done.

I've tryed to find his birth certificate or any other information about his parents, but have not had much success. Help!!

Have you checked out the George Harrison birth at Hutchesontown in 1891. Funnily enough there is also a George Wright in the same year.

They were living at Carfin Street in 1891 too.

Perhaps his parents never married (I can't find one anyway) and he was registered under both.

Just a thought. :)

Regards,
Annette
