Thom's Directory.....

Hi,

Here in Ireland local libraries have Thom's Directory which gives street by street lists of shops, professional people, civil servants, etc for various towns and cities. Useful if your ancestors were landowners or business or professional people. As it is available for the 19th century I am assuming that it was compiled on a UK basis. Is that right? Would there be one for Banchory-Ternan post 1901? Where would it be held? Any information gratefully accepted.

The equivalent in Scotland was Slater's Directory.

that was quick! Any idea where it might be found? though presuming you would have included that ino if you knew it. Any one else got any ideas?

Any major UK library should have a copy.......

... except I'm not in the UK...! Thanks Davie, I'll ask someone in ANESFHS or Stonehaven to look it up for me.
