Glasgow West-End Addresses and Occupants 1844-1915

Post by Anne H » Sun Sep 06, 2009 6:30 pm

This is a very interesting new site giving not only the old street names but the new names. Also gives the occupants over a period of years and a lovely photo of the building.

Take a look... http://glasgowwestaddress.co.uk/index.html

Great idea. I wish they had a name search facility though,

Hi Ann,

I've just enjoyed seeing the photos of the buildings at the addresses where some of mine lived so long ago (although they arent's mentioned by name). :)

Hi Nancy,

Wow...that's a shame and I didn't get to view everything. It had only been viewed about 50 odd times...I wonder if they're updating it or something.

Sorry everybody...hopefully it will come back online as it was a nice link.

Regards,
Anne H

You can search the site for a name, occupation, combination of those, or whatever, by going to Google Advanced Search at http://www.google.com.au/advanced_search?hl=en (or your local equivalent).

Type the basic site URL (http://glasgowwestaddress.co.uk) in the “Search within a site or domain” box and what you’re searching for in the appropriate box. Note that on the site surnames are entered first and first names are often much abbreviated.

You should get all instances of that name or whatever in the results.

Great site,
Alan

It is new, isn't it. I've just been visitor number 128.

Thanks Anne, it's great.
