Janet Kirkwood Tait - Ardrossan

Janet Kirkwood Ferguson married Arrichebald Tait (Butcher) in 1891. Living in Ardrossan 1901 (Archibald came from Ardrossan)
with 3 children - Margaret, Elizabeth and Janet. After that Janet seems to have disappeared. Found a 2nd marriage of an Archiebald Tait (Butcher) in 1906 to a Janet Wallace in Ardrossan they had a child born a year later called Elizabeth Thom Tait). Did Janet Kirkwood Ferguson Tait die and Archiebald then remarried? Have searched for a death certificate for Janet but have drawn a blank. Finishing of a family tree and just need this information. Perhaps they divorced - if so where does one find divorce records? Searched most sites and have again drawn a blank. Any information much appreciated.

It should say on his 2nd marriage certificate whether he was a widower or not.

Also, I've got a few Janets who, over the course of their lives were also known as Jane, Jessie, Netta and even one who suddenly started calling herself Annette, so I'd suggest using wildcards to search for her death..

I think you're dealing with two different Archibalds. I think this is the one as found in 1891 who marries Janet Wallace 25 April 1906...

It looks to me like the second Archibald Tait, ie married to Janet Wallace, is the Nephew, of the Archibald Tait, who married
Janet Kirkwood Ferguson.

There must be a distinct difference in the ages of the two Archibalds, on their marriages which would point to two different people.

The child Elizabeth Thom Tait, name suggests that both Archibalds, are related ie the first Archibald's, mother was Elizabeth Thom, the second Archibald's, father William Tait's, mother was also Elizabeth Thom.

Hi John - thanks your reply. I think you are right and the 2nd A is a nephew of the first A. I noticed the age thing on the certificates but in my family tree searches I have come across some little white lies in regards to ages! I have a birth/marriage and death certificate for a long lost relative where there is a 15 year age difference in their birth certificate/marriage certificate and their death certificate - and it is the same person!! Anyway again thanks your help. I will keep searching for this family. He had his own butcher's business in Ardrossan for a few years and perhaps at some point they emigrated. Perhaps they even divorced but I am not aware there are any sites where you can find information on divorces. Again, thanks your reply.
