Helen Linklater - Did She Marry ?

Hi,

Can anyone help me with this one ? I'm trying to find out if an ancestor called Helen Linklater c. 17 Apr 1791 in Stromness ever married ?
Her parents were Adam Linklater & Margaret Brass.

She also had a sister named Margaret, b. 13 July 1797 also in Stromness, who I'd like to find what happened to her.

I can't see any sign of a Helen Linklater on SP, there are 8 matches to a Margaret Linklater born 1797 + 3 with a death after 1855. No Mother's surname of Brass showing, but might not be noted.


Have you looked at the IGI for possible marriages? then cross referenced to couples on Freecen

or at Freecen for Linklaters in Orkney? - 1 Adam aged 80 years appears in Stromess with a Mary of 35 in 1841
It seems to be a very common Orkney surname though - so you could go round in circles.

Bear with the transcription errors here and I think this is Helen and Margaret. The IGI has a submitted marriage for Helen Linklater and David Geddes Allan. Ancestry has this entry for the 1851 Census:
