AVG Update to 9

I keep getting notice now that *time is running out and i should *update* to AVG Free 9*

When i click update it takes me to these two links. Which one do i click as they havnt made it very clear for a non techie to decide :?

Hello Tracey,

I’ve given AVG the flick and now use Avast so I may not be up to date with the latest.

The first one, the Download Manager is 870.3 kb, less than 1MB in size. This seems to be a program that downloads the full version of AVG and installs it on your computer. That’s probably the best one to click.

The second one is over 76MB in size and would be the full program in case you would prefer to handle the download and installation yourself. Perhaps in a case where someone wanted to install AVG on a computer that wasn’t connected to the internet and where the download manager would be useless or maybe if you’re downloading the program for a friend who has a slow internet connection etc..

I then clicked the first option and it downloaded or *updated* but nothing seems to have changed. AVG still says 8.5 instead of 9.

I use the free version on my laptop and downloaded both updates last week. Yesterday I got a message saying I should update to 9 which I thought I had done. :? After reading your post I realised the programme was on my desktop as a shortcut waiting to be installed. So..........you'll have to run and install it from there.
