ISABELLA GREIG SMITH 1863

Hi everyone, I,m lookinfgfor any HELP/ADVICE any of you experience researches can give me. I,ve hit a wall finding out what happened to Isabella Greig Smith b, 1863, at Barry forfarshire. to Elliot Smith and Charlotte Greig.
I,ve looked up Scotland bdm and can,t find her.
I have her in census 1881 at Little Mills, Mains, Angus. working as a servant.
Have found other siblings except brother James 1856. He is a bit of a mystery too.
Can anyone lead me to the right path to research this???????? Thanks for any replies!!!

Hi,
Where did you get the information that you do have about Isabella?

I've checked the IGI at family search, those parents had several children:
I did a parent search for them, lots of submitted entries as well as extracted ones,
but no Isabella among them, or indeed any birth to the couple in 1863.

MARGARET GREIG SMITH - Female Birth: 19 NOV 1869 Barry, Angus, Scotland
JESSIE STIVEN SMITH - Female Birth: 19 NOV 1869 Barry, Angus, Scotland

Have you looked on ScotlandsPeole for the family in 1871?

If you search scotlands people using the search criteria Surname Smith forname is*a g*g
search dates 1863 and search Angus Barry you get 1 return unfortunatly I do not have any credits left

Thank you for your replies.i"M STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE SYMBOLS ON THIS SITE MEANS. I have found info from ancesty.com and scotland bmd cert. I,m sorry people but i didn"t make myself very clear with my last post. FORGIVE ME!!!!! I have her birth but cannot find a marriage or a death for her. or James her brother.I have her in 1881 census james 1871 but then I can"t find anything or probably missing it.???

The only likely James who has the same birth details is living at St. Andrews, Fife in 1891. Looks like he gave his son a middle name of Elliot.

What I would usually do for a female relative is look on ancestry for someone of the same forename and date and place of birth ( in this case I wold look for Isa* , Iso* and probably Bel* born approx. 1863 in Barry) . And then look for a corresponding marriage and/or death:
So from ancestry , I found an Isabella Strachan ( husband James) born about 1864 in Barry according to the 1891 and 1901 censuses. On Scotlandspeople there is a marriage of an Isa* Smith to a James Strachan in 1884 somewhere in Angus .
There is also a possible 1912 death of an Isa* Smith or Strachan born 1863 +/- 1 year in Angus
I note also that there is a Jessie Smith aged 21 lodging with the Strachans in 1891 she was born in Barry too.

I haven't looked at any of the records on scotlandspeople, so this could just be coincidence.
