Glencorse & West Linton churchyard MI's

Post by karenwalker » Sat May 15, 2010 2:20 pm

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has memorial inscriptions for Glencorse or West Linton Parish's churchyards or if there is a site which would have them? Tried www.mementi-mori which does not. Any information much appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

Cheers,

Karen

Hi Karen
It says on Genuki that:
"Monumental Inscriptions for Old Glencorse can be found at the Local Studies Centre in Loanhead."
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/MLN/LocalStudies.html

Maybe try contacting them as it states:
Specific enquiries relating to the Midlothian area (pre 1950) can be dealt with. This does not include the central Edinburgh Parishes. Enquiries are taken in turn, so please expect a delay. Please provide brief details if you are unable to come in in person. Staffing is limited and Local Studies is extremely busy.
Pre-1855 inscriptions for the parish [West Linton] are contained in the Scottish Genealogy Society's volume of Peeblesshire Monumental Inscriptions.
Which can be found here:

Not sure where you are based but you should be able to view both items if in Edinburgh as the Scottish Genelaogy society in Victoria Terrace will have a copy of the MIs for West Linton and probably Glencorse too, I'd think, but best to check before making any journey. The Edinburgh Room in the library may well have them too.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for the useful links, very helpful. On the same catalogue there are a few more of my places of research so even better. Many thanks.

Regards

Karen
