Hi everyone,
I am trying to find parents, birthplace and place of death for Peter Fisher and his wife Margaret (Mary) Murray married Jan. 1826 Greenock, Renfrew. So far I have one son John Robertson Fisher b. Oct. 25th 1826 in West Greenock. John married Margaret Kelly in 1855 Rothesay, Bute. I have no death dates for these people.
These are the children for John & Margaret:
Ronald Fisher b. about 1857 in Newfoundland, Canada, d. about the age of 21 of drowning place Newfoundland or Rothesay.
Margaret Fisher, b. March 1859 Newfoundland, d. about 1940 Victoria, B.C.
Peter Fisher, b. Dec. 1861 Rothesay, Bute, d. 1948 Innisfail, Alberta, Canada.
John Jamieson Fisher, b. Oct. 1865 Blythswood, Glasgow, d. ? no info on him.
Jessie Lucy Fisher, b. 1871/1872 Blythswood, Glasgow. d. in Victoria, B.C.
Thanks
Rose

Re: Peter and John Fisher
Hi Rose
I'm not seeing a death for John's mum Margaret but it surely appears that she may have died very young. The records at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk will give you a DC for his dad Peter who died in 1866 Rothesay. John R. Fisher is the informant. He does not mention the fact that his father was first married to Margaret which seems a little odd but there is small doubt we have the right people here. Peter Fisher is shown as widower of Catherine Glass. There is a corresponding OPR marriage for them in Kingarth 1 Feb 1838. On the 1841 census you'll see your John at home with his dad Peter and wife Catherine. Catherine must have died between 1841 and 1851 as Peter is alone by then with a sole servant in the household. His occupation in 1851 is retired ship master. I don't see any additional births to Peter and Margaret which reinforces an early death for her.
Best wishes
Jean

Re: Peter and John Fisher
Just realized you were looking for deaths for John and Margaret Kelly too.....his is easily found in 1891 Tradeston, Glasgow at age 64. His wife Margaret soon followed. Her's is in 1891 as well only the district is Hutchesontown. All records can be purchased and downloaded from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for a few credits.

At an additional cost you can also view Peter's 19 page inventory also at SP. Well worth a fiver!
It looks like there may be a 3 page will for John too if he died 8th February.

Annette

Re: Peter and John Fisher
One more piece to wrap this up for you. You mention a son named John Jamieson Fisher born Blythswood. Actually I think you've entered his name incorrectly. The birth is truly for a John Robertson Fisher. This is the same fellow who informs for both of his parents deaths in 1891....and who you'll find a marriage for in 1892 West Kilbride, Ayr to yet another Margaret!

Re: Peter and John Fisher
Thank you all for the info.
I am confused with John Jamieson Fisher b. Blythswood with John Robertson Fisher b. the same. The IGI has John Jamieson as the son of John and Margaret Fisher.
Now to find the parents for Peter Fisher and birth date. Did not know that Peter was a ship master and that he had a second wife. Wonderful more to add to the family history. I can not afford the credits right now.
Thanks again

Re: Peter and John Fisher
The IGI unfortunately has taken the BC for John at face value. Indeed the birth is recorded as John Jamieson Fisher but there is a margin notation and a subsequent RCE entry attached to it whereby the name was corrected to be John Robertson Fisher. That accounts for why you never could find John Jamieson Fisher again....he never truly existed! The original record and the RCE can also be purchased and downloaded from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

Thanks Jean,
That explains why I couldn't get anywhere with John Jamieson.
Family story has John Robertson Fisher in the Army which one I don't know.

Thanks Barbara
For the B.C. Archive link. I did find the death of Jessie Lucy Fisher and Margaret (Fisher) Sutherland.
Now I'm still having a trouble with John Robertson Fisher and John Jamieson Fisher. On the Family Search Record Search has John Jamieson Fisher b. Oct. 10, 1865 Blythswood, Glasgow, parents John Robertson Fisher and Margaret Kelly.
A note from a late Uncle has John Robertson Fisher & Margaret Kelly's son as John Jamieson Fisher b. 1865 married to a Lamont.
So if his name was change why would the family call him John Jamieson?
