email and password problem

Help, please!
I have a new email address so have been trying to update my profile. I entered the new email and then confirmed it in the next box. In the last box asking me to confirm my password I entered my password [which I have used before] but it kept telling me that the password was wrong. After a few attempts at this I then tried to change my password using the same combination to be told that the password I was entering was the same as my old one!! If that is true why would it not accept my confirmation of my original password.

OK, so you have followed the instructions below and its not doing what it should ?

Username: RACH
Length must be between 3 and 20 characters.

E-mail address: ENTER NEW EMAIL ADDRESS

Confirm e-mail address: AS ABOVE
You only need to specify this if you are changing your e-mail address.

New password: ENTER A NEW PASSWORD
Must be between 6 and 30 characters.

Confirm password: SAME AS ABOVE
You only need to confirm your password if you changed it above.

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I tried the way you said again and it still wouldn't work. However I then tried entering the new email plus a new password and it is fine now. Don't know why I had to change password though.
