Searching for the parents and birth of Mary Ritchie, according to info copied and given to me from a Family Bible, Mary married Thomas Staley at Leadhills, Lanarkshire, on July 13, 1787, they soon went to Muirkirk, Ayrshire where they produced 5 children, Mary died in Muirkirk on March13, 1831 (same source).
I’m unable to confirm either of these events as OPR’s for these places and times are unavailable, I’d be grateful for any help in finding anything re Mary prior to her marriage.

Hello Nas, and a Warm Welcome to TalkingScot ![[scotland-flag] [scotland-flag]](./images/smilies/scotland-happy.gif)
Have you had a browse through the IGI? http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true
Entering Mary Ritchie born 1767 +/- 10 years brings up a lot of hits, which may offer some hope. These records show the parents' names so you may be able to spot a familiar family name that may be worth some investigation. Narrowing the birthplace to British Isles, Scotland, Lanark will probably help.
Have you tried alternate spellings? Richie/Richey, etc.
Frances

Re: Mary Ritchie
Thanks for your welcome and reply Frances, I've done similar things on a couple of sites, unfortunately the only first name that is a bit out of the ordinary comes from the male line!
