Looking for a building in Glasgow.....

Post by Dennis » Sat Aug 27, 2005 6:03 pm

Hi:)

I was wondering if anyone has heard of what I suppose was some kind of residential building in Glasgow in the mid to late 1940s called Windsor Terrace? That's all the information I have on it.

Windsor Terrace , Kelvinside had it's name changed to Kirklee Terrace W2.

That's near the Botanic Gardens / Grosvenor Terrace / Byres Road.

There is still a Windsor Terrace though, near St Georges Cross off Maryhill Road.

A look at Multimap will help you there.

Hi Wonka:)

The one near St. George's Cross off Maryhill Road is the one. Apparently it was one of the 1st places my mom and I lived after I was born. I wonder if there are any pics of it.

Many many thanks,

have you tried either the virtual mitchel site or the Glasgow story site ?

The addresses will be on here somewhere , probably under 'Sources'

Hello Wonka & Davie,

Looked at the Virtual Mitchell & Glasgow Story sites but they just show pics of the 1st one, which was later renamed to Kirklee Terrace. There doesn't appear to be any pics, that I can find, of the one off Maryhill Rd.

No, no Davie that's a bit posh fur where Dennis wis born (look at Wonka2's post). That area is mair Kelvingrove than Maryhill.
Try same link http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ but type in Windsor Terrace.
