Can anyone confirm who the Chaplain at Fort George or The Manse Ardersier (not sure if they would have had a Chaplin ?) was in 1923/25 ?
Who ever he was i have letters but cant make out if his name is William ?Graham ...he was very kind to my grandmother when she went their to marry my grandfather and more than went out of his way to see they were married and even sent them money by way of a wedding gift as they were skint. If anyone knows how to find who he was i would be very greatful.

Hi Tracey
In the Scotsman ( www.scotsman.com ) there are many mentions of Rev William Graham, Ardersier from about 1920's onwards. A couple ( 1930 and 1936) mention that he was Chaplain to the regimental depot at Fort George - so you probably have the right name.
Also in 1949 , a Rev Wm M Graham M.A. of Ardersier conducted the marriage of his daughter Agnes Mary to an Arthur Smith of Mount Florida, Glasgow
Wm was reported to have seen Nessie ( the monster ) herself in 1947 .
I'm sure someone more informed than myself can tell you whether he can be traced via the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae or some other Church publication or via the regiment .
Best of luck
Sally

Hi
I would think that contacting the Church of Scotland would give you a result on this. Their website is on http://www.churchofscotland.org.uk/ . I'm assuming that if he was a military chaplain he was of the established Church. Alternatively the Presbetery of Inverness might come up with the goods. There is a list of contacts on the site.
