Channel 7 in Australia has posted this link to some 3000+ photographs of servicemen who served in France and are seeking anyone who can identify them. https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid= ... eTheater=1
These are the pictures kindly provided by Madame Henriette Crognier of Vignacourt, just some of the original Thuillier World War One collection of 3000+ photographic plates. Most of the photographs are of ANZAC forces, but there are many of others, including Scots, in the collection.
Regardless of the requirement for the photographs to be identified, they provide an insight into the lives and conditions of those captured in the photographs.

Re: Photographs - WW1 discoveries
Hello Billgen, and welcome to TalkingScot.
Thanks very much for posting that, it’s certainly a fascinating set of photographs. I don’t recall seeing too many ‘studio’ photos of Australians and others that were actually taken in France, and not too far behind the lines by the look of them. The studio being the street, a canvas backdrop, and a couple of props. Many of the soldiers are dressed in their sheepskin coats as well which don’t often feature in this type of photograph. I think I saw a Mademoiselle from Armentières somewhere there as well.

There are photos of soldiers from just about everywhere. Here are some that look a bit Scottish http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... 2777219968
Thanks again,
Alan

Re: Photographs - WW1 discoveries
I have just noticed your posting, thank you for this link and Alan for the next few links, they really are amazing photographs, hope they get lots of response.
As I was scrolling through them I wondered how many of them would actually have made it home, it would be great if even just a few could be named.
Ann
