Hi Listers,
I am hoping someone has information or connections to Henderson Kyle. He married Agnes McAuslan on 26 Nov 1869 at Camlachie Free Church, Glasgow. The 1871 Census for Bridgeton, Glasgow have them listed with daughter Agnes, age 6 months (Agnes was born 30 Sep 1870). They also had another daughter Margaret born 01 Jul 1872. Henderson Kyle, Age 32, Carpet Weaver, died on 26 Jun 1872 at Bridgeton. I could not find Henderson Kyle listed in the 1861 Census. I am trying to find out where he was from in Ireland. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Glenda

Hello Glenda and ![TS welcome [TS_welcome]](./images/smilies/TS_welcome.png)
What were his parents' names and father's occupation on his death and marriage certificates?
It is possible that Agnes may have applied for poor relief after Henderson's death and that the records would provide more information also.
All the best,
Sarah

Re: Henderson Kyle
Hi Sarah,
Henderson Kyle's parents were listed as Matthew Kyle (Cotton Weaver, Handloom) and Margaret Barclay on his marriage and death certificate.
I know Agnes Kyle married again in 1873 and died in 1880. When she died her mother Agnes Mcauslan raised her two daughters. I assumed that her mother helped her out when Henderson died.
Thanks for mentioning poor relief which is worth a try.

Re: Henderson Kyle
Henderson did apply for poor relief in April 1872. Despite it being a water damaged Barony book I managed to read most of it..................but the most important part was very difficult!
He was born at Co. Antrim, Ireland and it looks as though he came to Glasgow around 1861.
His parents Matthew Kyle, a weaver and Margaret Barclay were still alive and living at Co. Antrim, Ireland in 1872 - the place name was very difficult to make out - here's what I wrote - Gordglinale
which brings nothing up with a google.
Agnes also applied for poor relief in 1875. Her application is very clear and worth purchasing a copy. If you email The Mitchell they will photocopy it for you and post it on. The reference number is D HEW 10/2/53 application 47 (2 pages) for Agnes McAuslan Kyle Marshall. Hopefully they will not charge you for a search because you have the number. Interesting to note she quoted her first husband's name as James Kyle.
Regards,
Annette

Re: Henderson Kyle
Hi,
I am researching Henderson Kyle and his family.
He was my great great grandfather. His daughter Margaret Kyle is my grandmothers, (Jean Simpson Fargie's), mother.
Margaret is My mother's grandmother and my great great grandmother.
My grandmothers, mother Margaret, married a William Simpson and had my grandmother Jean, Elizabeth, Robert, William and three other children.
I am looking for any information regarding the Henderson Kyle Family or who Agnus McAuslan remarried and other children she may have had.
Or information on Margaret Kyle and her sister Agnus Kyle
Trying to find a direct descendant through them.
I would appreciate any info.
Contact me directly: joydmaine@yahoo.com
